Bloggin'

Well, I've finally decided to hop on the bandwagon, and only about 5 years too late, but who's counting. I know that there is at least one person out there (my mother) who will be mildly interested in reading these posts, so mom, get ready to read about what your son has been claiming to do for a living all this time.

With all the SXSW madness going around the web right now, I was happy to see my old friend Shilpa Ray get a big huge mention on nytimes.com yesterday. I recorded/mixed an EP for her old band "Beat the Devil" a while back. Unfortunately, Beat the Devil didn't make it, but Shilpa's new group seems to being doing really well, which is no surprise given that she's a total genius; definitely one of the most lucid artists I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Not to mention Mishka Shubaly, who was another third of the group, is one of my favourite people and songwriters.

At any rate, lately I've been doing a lot of everything.
I'm co-scoring a film with my friend Sam Bisbee. It's a horror-musical, and Sam wrote all the songs. We've been working on this for almost a year now and the results are pretty spectacular.

I've been mixing tunes for a guy here in town called Eytan Oren. He's a great songwriter with a really wonderful production style to his tunes, really organic and REAL, thank god. Not many loops or samples creeping their way into his songs, so that's been fun, cause I don't do as many strictly mixing/engineering projects as I used too.

Also Plenty of commercial bids for companies like starbucks, qwest, and natwest, as well as a pretty deep foray into the world of "webisodic" entertainment. I've been writing tons of music for a company called Digital Broadcasting Group, who are quite "hot" on the "interactive media" front. Through them I've been licensing music to companies like Coke, WebMD, Motorola, and many others. Although it's not the most romantic, its regular work and is good for stretching my genre muscles (read: white-man's overbite).

I think that should do it for now, I know I'm forgetting something, but now that I'm fully interactive, I'll totally blog it up.
